About us
Teachers first, tutors second
VLE Tutors (short for Virtual Learning Environment Tutors) is a team of qualified UK teachers. We teach GCSE Maths, GCSE English and A-Level Maths online, one-to-one and in small groups of three to five.
Who teaches your child
Every tutor is a qualified UK teacher with QTS or QTLS and classroom experience. Some also mark GCSE exams for the exam boards, so they know exactly what examiners reward. We do not use students or unqualified tutors.
Whichever tutor your child has, lessons follow the same SMART Learning Model and the same standards, so every family gets a consistent experience across subjects.
Where lessons happen
Most lessons take place in our own virtual classroom: live video, a shared whiteboard, on-screen annotation and group tasks. Students log in through the Learning Portal, with no meeting links to manage.
Prefer face-to-face? One-to-one lessons in person are available in Corby, Kettering and Northampton, depending on tutor availability.
How we teach
Every lesson follows the SMART Learning Model, a five-step cycle grounded in research on how students learn and remember.
- Sense Meet new ideas clearly, linked to what the student already knows.
- Map Organise ideas so they connect, instead of staying as loose facts.
- Apply Practise on real questions, with support that fades as confidence grows.
- Reflect Check understanding with low-stakes quizzes and clear feedback.
- Transform Use the knowledge on unfamiliar questions, independently.
Safeguarding
The safety of every student comes first. All tutors hold Enhanced DBS checks, registered with the DBS Update Service, and complete safeguarding training every year.
